Several sprints based on one or several backlogs?

Is it possible to organize several independent sprints in GH based on one or multiple backlogs?

We re working with several development streams which are not aligned to the same sprint duration, therefor we need one sprint for each of them. It would be possible to put all issues in one backlog and use the (not userfriendly) global rank, but it could be also an option to have individual backlogs per stream.

Is there any option to get this scenario into JIRA?

Best regards,

Hans-Hermann

I am not 100% sure if I understand the issue, but I have a similiar need for organizing multiple teams (not streams ;-) ) in a single backlog and these teams have different sprints (meaning different start date / end dates). Here is one possible solution:

(Ab)use sprints as teams:

  • Release
    • Team A
      • Current Sprint
      • Upcomming Sprint
      • Backlog
    • Team B
      • Current Sprint
      • Upcomming Sprint
      • Backlog

How can you do that?

  • Create the sprints listed above (Team A is a sprint)
  • In the GreenHopper Classic Planning Board select the sprint and click on the Master icon.
    • Example: The Master of "Current Sprint" is "Team A".
The Master of "Team A" is Release

Done.

Is this what you are looking for?
