Reset Role to default membership

I have a number of roles I've created in JIRA. I have 5 projects that use these roles. I can change the default membership for a role, but that does not propagate to the projects. I can't even "reset to default" within a project. I have to manually change the role membership for each project.

Am I missing something or is this a known limitation?

It is indeed a known limitation. Rather, that is how it is designed to work now. Maybe you can create a new feature request to include the reset to defaults option.
