Problem with reindexing after upgrade to 5.2.2

Hello,

I am having a problem re-indexing after upgrading to Jira 5.2.2. It required an offline index but fails when run.

It dumps the below:

{code}

java.util.concurrent.ExecutionException: java.lang.NullPointerException

Task completed in 1 minute, 32 seconds with unexpected error.

Started Today 08:43 PM.

Finished Today 08:45 PM.

Another member on our team seems to have resolved this. His notes are below. Note, the ;no_not_use' issue type reference relates to an obsolete custom issue type we were having trouble removing from two issues.

Fixed as far as I can tell at the moment.

  • disable greenhopper
  • run integrity check (all checks), fix errors
  • index
  • search for do_not_use type, delete issues
  • administration > issue types .. delete do_not_use type
  • enable greenhopper
  • index
  • run integrity check again (all checks) .. verify no errors
  • verify scrum boards
  • verify search results

He is not sure though if the Greenhopper upgrade alone would have done it or if it was the integrity check.

Hi there,

The stack trace you have supplied appears to suggest that this issue is related to Greenhopper, so can you ensure that you have the latest available version of the plugin is installed because your issue looks related to this bug that will be resolved by upgrading the plugin: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/GHS-4388

All the best,
John

Hi John,

We upgraded Greenhopper to version 6.1.2 and still continue to get the stacktrace when reindexing. Do you have any further suggestions on next steps that we could try?

Thanks,

Justin
