Migrating content from one OnDemand instance to another

Can anyone advise if it is possible to move content (an entire space or selected pages) from one OnDemand instance to another onDemand instance. If you have already done so, what were the pitfalls or limitations?

Hi Caren,

Moving Spaces and Pages from one OnDemand instance to another is very easy. You will only need to run an XML Export of the Space in question, then import that into your target OnDemand instance.

There are only a few things you need to keep in mind:

  • Personal Spaces will become public if imported. - You will need to restrict or move them after they've been imported.
  • Confluence will try to convert internal links to point at the target instance. Any Web links (ie full links http://domain.com/page) will not be converted.
  • This will not import any groups, if group restrictions are present on your Space but those groups do not exist, you must create them first.

Cheers,

Ivan.
