Jira Charting Plugin didn't create the "Time in Status" Custom field. Now what?

I would really like to use the "Time in Status" gadget but having installed the plugin the custom field wasn't created. It seems that the Jira Charting Plugin is barely being maintained. Is anybody still using it? Is there a solution to the missing custom field?

Go to administration -> Issues-> Custom Fields -> Add New Field -> From advanced pick Time in Status -> Name it "Time in Status" and on next screen just update.
This field is for all global issues.

This has happened to me a couple times. If a plugin doesn't install the necessary fields, I have created them manually if I knew what type of field it should be and the field name. Or you could uninstall and reinstall it to see if it gets it right the next time around.
