Is it possible to bypass page restrictions for specific users?

Jiří Leník August 12, 2012

Hi,

I ve got a questions from our managing directors, if it is possible to bypass page restrictions for specific user/groups. If somebody creates a new page and he forgets (for any reason) to add this groups to restrictions, it leads to problem.

Or...another way - is it possible to specify default groups / users to restriction in each space?

Hi Jiri,

To answer your question; it isn't possible to bypass restrictions unless the user is an administrator of the wiki.

However, as of Confliuence v4.2.6 there is an option to assign default Space permissions for Spaces when they are created: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Confluence+4.2.6+Release+Notes

It is not currently possible to do the same fro pages, but there is an open feature request for this functionality: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-26306

All the best,
John
