We are using Confluence WIKI 2.7.3 (build #1116).
Is there any way to get rid of the following types of warnings/errors during reIndexing(word/excel/pdf files) from Admin Console.
My question is similar to and asked by last questioner(Brad Fuller added a comment - 22/May/08 4:25 PM) at the following link, but no one has answered him.
2012-07-17 22:58:21,082 WARN [com.atlassian.confluence.search.lucene.ConfluenceMultiThreadedIndexer: 6] [bonnie.search.extractor.BaseAttachmentContentExtractor] addFields Error indexing attachment (Attachment: HP_Software_Customer_Support_Handbook.pdf v.2 (189595649))
also for word files and excel files as follows
2012-07-17 22:58:14,676 WARN [com.atlassian.confluence.search.lucene.ConfluenceMultiThreadedIndexer: 10] [bonnie.search.extractor.BaseAttachmentContentExtractor] addFields Error indexing attachment (Attachment: CRMS Paper Applications Report.doc v.1 (73957425))
-- url: /admin/reindex.action | userName: p689784 | action: reindex | referrer: xxxxxx
com.atlassian.bonnie.search.extractor.ExtractorException: Error reading content of Word document: null
These errors aren't usually serious, although the easiest way to get rid of the errors in the logs would be to disable indexing of attachments, but you should be aware that once the ContentExtractor for a file type is disabled, all files of that type become unsearchable. However, if you wish to do this then the instructions for doing this in your version of Confluence, (v2.7.3), can be found on this page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONF27/How+do+I+disable+indexing+of+attachments
For other customers who experience this issue, and who are running on more recent versions of Confluence, disabling the indexing of attachments is done differently but you can find how to do this in our knowledge base article on the subject: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/How+do+I+disable+indexing+of+attachments
