How to import Data from Discovery into Insight?

Alex Kodnar January 16, 2018

Hey.

Is there an easy way to import the data/assets, which I´ve gained with Discovery, into Insight?

I´ve already read the documentation of Insight and Discovery and tried lots of different import methods. But nothing is working properly.

So is there any simple way to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alex,

the described way is the way to import the data.

Please make sure that the user that is running the JIRA-Service

has write permissions at the import folder on your server.

Hi Christian!

Thanks for your answer.

The user has full access to the Atlassian directory. I´ll shortly explain, what I tried:

I did a scan with Discovery and placed the zip resulting from the scan in the import directory for Insight.

At first, I received an error, that the "export-details.properties" is missing. So I did an Insight export and used the "export-details..." file from there.

Currently I´m receiving the following error: Unknown pattern type externalVersion="(\d)" .

Thanks for your help,

Alex

Hi Alex,

it seems that you try a "schema" import for the discovery result.

Please configure a Discovery-Import for importing Discovery-Data

wether, I can´t find the Discovery-Import option in Jira/Insight.

If you have installed the Insight-Discovery Add-On

you can find the import module in the configuration of a schema.

Find the import tab

  1. Log in as a object schema manager
  2. Select the object schema you want to use
  3. Choose Object Schema > Configure > Import tab
