How do i set up an outgoing mail server for mail notifications?

I am attempting to set up email notifications on JIRA on-demand and i am following these instructions;

However I am unable to find the Outgoing Mail" section as described here;

Select Administration > System > Mail > Outgoing Mail to open the SMTP Mail Server page.

I have already configured email to be automatically picked up from a custom account however i do not know how to send replies.

Those instructions are accurate for the in-house version of JIRA. The OnDemand version uses their SMTP server settings, so you're limited in the settings you can set for that.
