File or directory path isn't rendered correctly if containing underscore(s)

Bajan Delic February 12, 2013

If the Description field has a link to a specific (directory or file) path containing underscores,

the underscores may be rendered into HTML code and this will result in a broken link.

This is a pretty usual case:

1. You describe some scenario within the JIRA issue

2. Want to provide a link to an UNC path (on a file server) with some additional information

3. You Copy&Paste the path information from the file explorer, e.g.

Here as noformat:

{noformat}

Fileserver data _Customers Suppliers ABC

{noformat}

And here the outcome as rendered Wiki-Link

Fileserver data _Customers Suppliers ABC

The noformat isn't an option and workaround here:

a) No link functionality

b) The user has to 'think of it' and must add the extra noformat macro

How to get rid of rendering the _ into the HTML code and have a working link?

Hi Bajan,

As per discussed in your support ticket, it turns out that the behavior is a bug and is now tracked in the following bug report:
- https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRA-31687

I hope that this helps to clarify the matter, however as a workaround for us we will use the {noformat} macro for the time being.

Thanks,
Ahmad
