Developer created new repository instead of using existing one. Merge?

I had a developer do some work on my site and I asked him to upload/log all his changes to my BitBucket account. Instead of adding them to the repository that already existed for this website he created a new one. Is there a way to take the contents of one repository and move them to an existing repository?

Did he start with your full repository to begin with, or just your production website files?

You'll probably want to use a local repository to do the work.

If he used your whole repository, clone the new one, add the original as a remote, then push to that.

If he just used your website files as a starting point, you should probably clone your original, set the new repo as a remote, then merge his changes.

Either way, make sure you verify that the final product is what you want before pushing back to the original repo.
