Deleted Mail Server / Service Continues Running After Deleting

jeff poggensee October 11, 2012

I had configured an IMAP Mail server (connect to Lotus Notes) and a service to read a specific In-Box (connect to Lotus Notes). I deleted both the server and service after finding a problem with the projects Issue Level Security. It now appears that the service is continuing to run (we restarted the JVM after removing the service and again after removing the server). E-Mails sent to the in box are being read, but no issues are created in Jira. However, if an e-mail is sent from a user without project permissions, an e-mail is generated indicating a permission error in the project. These errors appear a point in time view of the project as project permission have been reset to allow all users the ability to create issues. Also should note Issue level security has also been removed from the project. We have also stopped the Jira instance, removed all entries from the “ JIRA_HOME” / cache/indexes folders, restarted and re-indexed and the problem is still occurring.

Hard to say, what mail handler are you using, what is its configuration, do you specify a reporter, does that reporter have permission? how many mail handlers to you have? are you sure the one you deleted was the one pulling the mail?
