Deactivate one user and create another

Toni Mofardin October 2, 2012

We have 10 users license and all 10 users are active.

Now, one user is going to be inactive and new user will come to take his place.

I can't create new username because of the license (there are already 10 users).

How could I deactivate old username so I could create a new one?

Thank you

Hi there,

Depending on your application there are different options for deactivating users, but unless I'm mistaken the universal option is to ensure that the user to be deactivated has been removed from all their groups as this will prevent them from being able to login and as such they are treated as deactivated.

All the best,
John

Remove the inactive user from the "can log in" groups. This is usually jira-users or confluence-users, assuming you're using one of those two, and haven't messed with the global permissions much, but you haven't said which it is.
