Confluence search: does not find content in panel or codeblock macro

Markus Raab May 29, 2017

It seems that it is not possible to search for content that is incluede within a panel or code-block macro. I want to search for a text included in such a macro, but do not receive any results at all.

Can anyone confirm this or has a solution ready?

Confluence Server 5.10.1

Thanks in advance!

Hi Markus,

I've just tried that in my Confluence 5.10.7 and it works fine.

I just figured out that it is a different problem than initially thought.

Especially in code-blocks often words are not separated by a space, e.g., ConfluenceHandler.this

Searching for "ConfluenceHandler" will not show any results, however searching for "ConfluenceHandler*" does.

This is the desired behaviour for searching in Confluence. If you don't add a wildcard, Confluence searches for the exact phrase. Look here:

Thanks a lot.

Too bad that the wildcard is not included automatically at the beginning and end of each search term. Well, good to know now to explain it to our users.
