We upgraded our confluence instance from 4.3.3 to 4.3.6.
Since then we cannot access the plugin manager anymore. At startup we have this error in the logs :

I see in the docs this related issue : https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRAKB/Installing+UPM+2.7.2+or+later+on+versions+of+Tomcat+prior+to+6+fails
But we did not upgraded UPM, only confluence.
We run the ear-war version in tomcat 5.5.23 with java 1.6.0_35
Hi Cedric,
I'm sorry to say that I suspect the issue here is that the UPM bundled in Confluence v4.3.6 is UPM v2.7.7, which isn't compatible with Tomcat 5 and as such you will need to upgrade your Tomcat as described in this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/CONFKB/Universal+Plugin+Manager+stops+working+after+upgrade+to+v4.3.5+or+v4.3.6
All the best,
John
Ok, so as you said, confluence >= 4.3.5 is no longer compatible with tomcat5.
