Cannot edit pages after IE security patch update

Sandro Rabbiosi October 17, 2012

Hello,

after my company IT department installed the following internet explorer patch last week, my confluence instance is unable to save page edits or even install plugins.

Microsoft Security Bulletin MS12-063 - Critical - Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (2744842)

No further changes to the default IE security settings were made, all users complain of the problem. The problem is not an issue on an unpatched IE or with Firefox.

The error message upon attempting to save a page edit: An error occurred when saving. You can copy your changes to the clipboardand then save them in a standard editor is an IE error message, the server does not seem to be involved.

Can anyone help with a possible fix? My confluence is currently dead in the water and users are getting quite frustrated.

Hi there,

It seems that this is not an IE issue, rather it's caused by a third-party plugin "Confluence InPlace Editor" . Please try to disable this plugin and see if the problem persists. You can also try to enable plugin safe mode.

Hope it works. Otherwise, please continue the discussion in the support ticket that you have submitted :)
