My confluence account has system administrator powers, though it is in confluence by virtue of a directory sync. I am not able to add a user, or add a user directory in confluence. The attempt simply fails with no report of why. I first looked for help in the support forums:
When I restart confluence, i am able to do this. After it has run for a few days, it gums up again and I cannot do user management. This is "solved" in the sense that I got done what I needed.

Do you use internal or external directory or both?
If it is external you may need to add the user to the external directory first.

User search also hangs when searching from the Global Permissions page, were one going to give global permissions to a user.
