Can you trigger emails to a distribution list based off of the chosen component of a JIRA issue?

I want to be able to trigger a JIRA email to one or more email distribution lists depending on the component. So if component 'A' is chosen then I want to trigger an email to 'Email list 1' and 'Email list 2' and if component 'B' is chosen then I want to trigger an email to 'Email list 3' Can this be done?

Not a direct solution. If you can create each of the distribution lists as users in Jira and mark them as Component Lead for the corresponding components, then Jira will notify the Component Lead for every change of an issue. Ofcourse this also means that your notification scheme should allow this (http://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA044/Creating+a+Notification+Scheme).
