Can a task be created from a sub story?

I would like to add a technical task to a sub-story. Is that possible? I have a Story and then sub-stories to that story but now I need to break work out into technical tasks related to the sub-stories.

No, Jira doesn't have that many layers of sub-tasking. It's category -> Project -> Issue (including stories) -> Subtasks.

The structure plugin allows for deeper nesting, but I approach it with caution - I've been to a lot of places that find they end up in a mess because they have too many nested layers. It's fine as long as your users fully understand the layers.

Thanks, Nic. Your prompt response was very helpful. We ended up creating an Epic and then creating issues as stories from the Epic itself. This then allows our dev team to break out the technical tasks as they needed.
