Approval module for Jira?

Deasn Kaflowitz June 19, 2013

Is there an Approval module for Jira? I am knowledgeable about FootPrints and that used to have a very robust approval module for software change release management. I'mtrying to create a workflow for Jira that will work like the FootPrints approval system. My workflow would require approvals of all parties and, when approved, the issue status would be changed and automatically placed into the next phase of the workflow.

You mean like this ? http://confluence.kepler-rominfo.com/display/TR/Start+progress+on+an+issue+only+after+the+approval+of+project+manager

However, JJupin and Blitz Actions are commercial plugins ...

We wanted to do an approval plugin, but it turns that everybody has it's own approval scheme, so we decided not to do it ... but you can achieve that by scripting, as shown.

There are maybe some other plugins in the marketplace that can help; it's not the only solution ...

Hi Deasn,

there are several possible extensions that may fit your needs.

look for "release management" on https://marketplace.atlassian.com

the workflow thing can be done manually by yourself as well..

i.e. just add a transition called "Approve" and make it only be accessable by specific group/role/users...

set up the next step that the issue reaches upon approval...and so on..

jira brings loads of configuration possibilities specially on workflows
