Add an application to the Trusted Applications list for SOAP API

I have a custom built timesheet application and would like to integrate with OnDemand.

When a user enters time, I would like it to update the time spent on the JIRA task.

I would like to add my timesheet application as a trusted application to JIRA so that I can call the SOAP API without needing a token for the specific user.

The method I will be using is: addWorklogAndAutoAdjustRemainingEstimate

Will adding my timesheet app to the list of trusted applications allow me to log time against users without needing their password details?

Is there a way to do this?

You may want to keep an eye out for Plugins 3 which will allow software to act as external applications for OnDemand or as plugins for downloaded versions of Atlassian applications.

Unfortunately Trusted Applications are not supported in JIRA OnDemand. See here for the list of restricted functions: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand#RestrictedFunctionsinAtlassianOnDemand-jira

as well as this related answer: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/68080/unable-to-add-a-trusted-application-in-jira

I am in the process of investigating if it is possible to authenticate as a Trusted App for SOAP requests in the standalone version, but I suspect it is not possible there, either.
