Why would a page admin get a "Not Permitted" error when trying to edit a page?

Greg Della-Croce October 30, 2015

A space admin is trying to add a row to an existing table on a restricticted page (restriction is inherited from two levels up, and they are on the view and edit list).  When they go to save the new row they get: Not Permitted error page.

Two System Admins have tried the same thing and also get the same error.

We just upgraded to 5.8.14 from a 5.3.x, so we have never seen this problem before.

Has anyone seen this problem on 5.8 and if so is there a work around?  Did we forget to set a permission somewhere?

Thanks for your time to answer this problem

Hey there,

I think your problem is related to an existing bug that was reported in here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-25210 and in here https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/CONF-39756.

Hope this will help 'ya.

Hey Greg,

Can you confirm if the page you mentioned does have a specific restriction applied to groups and if these groups does have the necessary permissions to work on it? So far, it should not happen in any version, but, another tip would be to check the current Global Permissions applied to the users, in the Administration panel of console and also, if the directory in use for this upgrade does reflect the user membership and permissions prior to upgrading the instance.

Hope it helps ya!

Cheers,

Giu
