I list all Jira tasks connected to an Epic. We already do that with the standard /jira gadget on a confluence page.
What I want next is to be able to click open one of the Jira Stories and see - in the same gadget - the sublist of subtasks.
Is it possible? Is there maybe a tool on the market for it?
I will recommend 2 gadgets that we use in our organization, but there could be others in the marketplace.
If you just want hiearchy views, Structure would be my first choice: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/34717/structure-project-management-at-scale?hosting=cloud&tab=overview
You can also use EazyB, which gives you functionality to create graphical reports and dashboards as wellI: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211051/eazybi-reports-and-charts-for-jira
Both products provide great support as well within a day.
Thank you, Fabian, for suggesting eazyBI. You can create the desired report in eazyBI for Jira and publish it on a Confluence page. Please read more about that on our documentation page - https://docs.eazybi.com/eazybijira/publish-reports/publish-in-confluence-pages.
We recommend using the eazyBI for Confluence app for the best experience. Nevertheless, on Server/Datacenter, it is possible to publish eazyBI for Jira reports in Confluence without it.
You can then create the desired report with the Issue dimension "Epic" hierarchy and expand the Epic, Story, and sub-task levels as desired. See a screenshot of such a report published on a Confluence page below:
You can either expand each member or drill into it to reveal members beneath it.

As a Jira administrator, you can create sub-task issue types to split up larger pieces of work into tasks that can be assigned and tracked separately by your teams. Sub-tasks are enabled by default; however, you can choose to disable them if your teams only need to work with standard issue types. You can also create workflow conditions to ensure that all sub-tasks are completed before a parent issue can be resolved.
