When you say "community" are you referring to a Confluence space? If so, what are you expecting to happen when you tie a group to a space?

Yes I do mean "Space" I have a couple of Spaces and I only want certain groups to have access to specific space.

Okay, you can assign space permissions to one or more users/groups (see https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Assigning+Space+Permissions). You'll need to be a site admin in order to create a group. There's also a free, unsupported add-on in the Atlassian marketplace that allows you to create space-specific groups. See https://marketplace.atlassian.com/plugins/raju.kadam.confluence.permissionmgmt
