Custom URL preview (similar to Slack unfurl)

Giri Venkatesan July 3, 2022

Hi, I am new to confluence. My apologies if the question was answered with different terms native to confluence.

When you insert a link (say, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Headings-in-expand-macro-display-in-TOC-but-don-t-take-to-the/qaq-p/1133823) - it gets presented as an inline link but on click gives the options to view as URL, Card or Inline. The Card view is more interesting as it presents more details on the page and a quick snapshot/preview of the page content.

So far so good.

The URLs I am working with are corresponding to a cloud application and a regular tag-based preview card would not suffice.

In slack, we can have a Slack App that can be routed with URLs of specified (configured) domains to the App, and let the App build and return the preview.

I am wondering, whether Confluence supports such an App notion (or something else) where we can provide the logic to build the preview and so on.

Again, my apologies if the question is incorrect or unclear.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks!!
