Accidental Deleted space

How do I restore an accidentally deleted space?

1 answer

Good question - I just did this last Friday.  The answer is potentially ugly.  I have my instance of confluence set to create an automatic backup every night.  (I used the naming pattern to be the day of the week, like Mon, Tues) so it only keeps 7 backups. I think confluence makes backups by default, but it names them by the date so you can build up a lot of backups as they never get removed.)

Now, Confluence cannot restore just a space from the backup.  So, my suggestion is to restore the backup to a development instance of confluence, backup just the space to recover, and then import the space backup.

I did a full confluence site backup which worked, but I lost some data and had to reinstall all of my plugins.  Ugly.
