How to add a start time in a task in JIRA

Neeraj Tiwari August 30, 2013

We are using the Gantt Chart plugin in jira and enabled one of our projects to use it. We imported some of the tasks from Microsoft Project and the Gantt chart filled with the tasks and diagram showed alright. But, apparently when we add a new task in this project, it doesn't show up in the Gantt chart tab. This, I think, is because in MS project we had start time and end time. But when we add a task in jira, we only have a due date but not a start date and thats why Ganttt chart plugin is not able to pick those tasks. Can you please help us in this please?

Hi Neeraj,

please add the Gantt-specific customfields to your edit/view screens as JIRA system administrator. This is also documented on "Administrative steps to be done manually" on the result page after configuring my add-on.

Having this fields on your (default)screen, you can view their content as well as maintain them, manually.

If you have enabled re-scheduling, this planning dates will be calculated automatically on issue creation/issue update as described within the online documentation on the config tab panel "re-scheduling".

Regards,
Frank
