Does Tempo plugin allow timetracking for subtasks not to be added to parent task?

steven garfinkel November 26, 2012

Our company currently uses JIRA. The problem is that we will create a parent task, and then will create sub-tasks for that parent task. We will say that the parent task will take 8 hours. However, when people start work on a subtask, we will say that the subtask will take 2 hours. The problem is that JIRA adds the 2 hours from the sub-task to the 8 hours from the parent task, making it 10 hours total – we do not want JIRA to add the sub-task time to the parent task. This is a documented issue in JIRA that many people have. My question is whether the TEMPO plugin will fix this problem for us. I saw nothing on the TEMPO website about the plugins ability to manage sub-tasks, and would like to know the answer to this before we install the plugin to JIRA.

Hi Steven,

Although not quite what you are after, you might be interested in an option currently in Tempo: "Users cannot log work on parent issues", which (if enabled) prohibits users from logging work on issues that have sub-tasks.
