We have two environments - UAT and PROD, where we would like to have an integration with OpsGenie, in particular - emit Alerts from internal services.
Currently we use one account and one Alerts integration for those.
As there are Rate Limits, we want to make sure whatever disaster happens in UAT, it doesnt affect (much) PROD.
What is the recommended solution for the described situation?
Sofar we have considered:
a) Have separate accounts for UAT and PROD.
Downside: we need somehow to clone and copy all configurations and rules to the second account.
b) Have a second integration within same account and activate so called "integration fairness" (see https://docs.opsgenie.com/docs/api-rate-limiting).
There is very limited documentation on it - would it be possible to specify in percentage what share to give to one integration and what to another (e.g. 25% to UAT and 75% to PROD) ?
Appreciate your help
Hey @Alexander Turbin ,
I would suggest option b) as it would help keep all your configuration in one place and make it easier to manage your on-call. As for the 'integration fairness' yes we can apply that for you on our end, however, the percentage completely depends on your use case and how many alerts you expect from either environments. Therefore, there is no recommended percentage as it may vary from customer to customer.
Hope this helps answer your query.
Kind regards,
Thanks @Zeeshan,
i was not sure if you do have the possibility to define which integration receives which quota or its just equal split.
What is the optimal channel to request "Integration fairness" ?
