Bitcoin scams using fake news about Mike Cannon-Brookes

gtch November 8, 2019

I've just started seeing advertisements on Facebook featuring photos of Atlassian's CEO Mike Cannon-Brookes, but they're not from Atlassian — they're advertising Bitcoin scams, with fake news articles falsely claiming that Mike endorses a particular 'investment' product.

In case anyone happens across these ads and wonders if they are genuine: they are not. Don't fall for them!

The advertisements almost exactly match the scams that have been running with Andrew Forrest's name in recent months, just with the photos and name changed to Mike Cannon-Brookes. You can read about that scam at https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-09-19/woman-loses-$670000-to-andrew-forrest-abc-news-scam/11529654

If you see these advertisements on Facebook then you click 'Report Ad' to tell Facebook. I don't know if there's a good place to report them to Atlassian, if there's someone from Atlassian who want to hear about these perhaps they can say so in the comments below?

I figure it's probably best not to link to the scam directly, but here's a screenshot of the advertisements so you can see what I'm talking about:
