Will Releases and Version management be coming to next gen projects?

Sarah Jane October 3, 2019

I really like the look of the next gen projects, particularly the roadmap, but I noticed they don't include releases or version control. Is this something you'll be adding soon?

This has already been announced for this year. You can expect to have this functionality soon for next gen projects.

Hi Folks, I'm excited to announce that releases and versions (Milestone 1) is now available for you to use on your next-gen projects!

All you need to do is enable the 'Releases and versions' toggle in the feature page under Project Settings, more details are available here: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwarecloud/releases-and-versions-980451731.html.

Milestone 1 includes the ability to:

  1. Configure the fix version field to appear on your next-gen issue types
  2. Create and assign an issue to a particular fix version
  3. View a list of versions, their status (released, archived, unreleased) and the progress of that version via the releases page
  4. Search for issues containing a particularly fix version (or versions) via JQL

I've just published a Community post about the experience for you if you're interested in learning more: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-articles/New-features-for-next-gen-projects-in-Jira-Software-Cloud/ba-p/1232149

We are shipping additional functionality in subsequent milestones which we anticipate we'll be able to roll out soon after milestone 1.

In the meantime please let me know if you have any feedback on the above!

Kind regards,

Gareth.
