With Classic Projects, I was able to trigger screens when I transition tickets through statuses (For example, show screens to add a comment and edit Time Logged field after assignee mark the ticket as DONE)
Is this capability available on Next-Gen? I think I can only automate for pre-defined input. (For example, if ticket is moved to Done, change End Date to Current Date)
The short answer is no, in next-gen you cannot have transition screens. Next-gen limits what you can configure and screens is one of those limits, the only thing you can do is define what fields are available on the screen.
@Lan with ProForma you can build a form that must be filled out and/or submitted before a transition is possible. It doesn't support every field type in Jira yet; however, it might help you out.
You could use a combination of workflow validators and form automation rules:
1. Add a validation rule to the workflow transition preventing the transition unless a form is attached.
2. Add validation to the form making fields as required and requiring the form to be submitted before the transition can happen.
3. To make life easier for users you could also add a rule to the form that it automatically transitions to the required status when the form is submitted. In this way users won't actually need to do the transition themselves.
