In a Next-Gen JIRA instance, is it possible to show the subtask due date in the parent ticket view?

Dan Mallory February 6, 2020

We're building out a NextGen JIRA instance, using Epics and subtasks. I'd love to have the ability to show the subtasks due date in the parent ticket view.

Is this possible with NextGen?

Thanks in advance....

Hi @Dan Mallory

This is not yet possible in the new view (which Next-Gen utilises) - see this enhancement request to vote / watch its progression here: JRACLOUD-70206

It's still possible in Classic Projects though via Advanced Config - see this answer which has the instructions.

Is there any workaround/ rule I can add to make is seen in the board view? @Stephen Wright _Elabor8_

Hi @Netali Jakubovitz

If this is for Next-Gen, then it will display the due date by default if you're grouping by that statistic - to do this:

  1. Go to your Next-Gen board
  2. In the top-right, select the drop-down next to "Group by" and select Subtask
  3. Ensure you have due dates added to your Subtask issues

^ Using this method, the due date will appear on the card view for Subtasks, which will also appear on your board view.

If this is for Classic, you can change what is shown on the card layout via Board Settings:

  1. Go to your Classic board
  2. In top-right, select options (3-dots icon) and choose Board Settings
  3. In the left-hand menu, select Card Layout
  4. Add due date to the card layout in your backlog, active board or both
