I have a number of items within the Summary "REG-KLD-xxx" where xxx is a number.
If I set the search to: Summary ~ "REG" it will find the items.
If I set the search to: Summary ~ "REG-" it will find the items.
If I search for: Summary ~ "REG-KLD", no items are found.
If I search for: Summary ~ "REG-K", no items are found.
If I search for: Summary ~ "REG-K*", no items are found.
"-" is no forbidden sign as far as I know.
What am I doing wrong?

Updating to latest version seems to be only solution.

I have created few issues in my instance with the same summary as you said and tried searching it appeared the same for me too --- If I set the search to: Summary ~ "REG" it will find the items.
If I search for: Summary ~ "REG-KLD", no items are found.
But this symbol "-" is not forbidden as you said, I can get my results when I'm precise with the summary like REG-KLD-100
I have also attached the screenshot, that might help .
Thanks ,
Kevin.

@hnas cable guyWelcome to the community.
May I know what version of Jira are you on, or you are using Jira cloud.
I have tested, this scenario on both Server and Cloud and I am not facing any issue so far.
