Can we have FREE Jira Service Management in addition?

partha_sarker July 27, 2021

Hi there,

We currently have a subscription for Jira Software; however, we would also like to use the free version of Jira Service Management. Can we do that? Thank you!

Hello @partha_sarker

Yes, you can use the free version of Jira Service Management. The free version provides license for 3 agents, which means you can have 3 people access the Jira Service Management projects and work in them.

For detailed pricing, please refer the Atlassian site: JSM Pricing

Thanks @Gaurav for your answer. I finally got to this page which says, since we have more than 3 users (agents) for Jira Software, we cannot have Jira Service Management FREE version.

Does it mean that we need to use a "new site" separately to have free version of JSM? Or we cannot have it at all?

Hello @partha_sarker

You can have a free version of Jira Service Management and aetting up a "new site", is an option.

Alternatively, I would suggest you to use the option for trying other Atlassian products from the current product.

For this, click on the 9 dot matrix, before the Jira Software logo (similar to Jira Service Management in the screen shot) on the top left hand side of the screen and select Jira Service Management under 'Discover'. If it is not visible, please click on 'More Atlassian products' which will take you to products page and you can choose any product and try that.

Please see the attached screen shot for reference.

Kindly let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions.

Thanks @Gaurav again for replying me in such a short notice. I did as you suggested, and I arrived at this point.

The question is what happens after 30 days trial? Since we have more than 3 agents for Jira Software, how can we have the free version after the trial period? We want to start with the free version, not the Standard plan.

Does it mean that we need to create a "new site" to have the free plan as the only option?

Hello @partha_sarker

As the Jira Software is Standard Subscription, the system by default is selecting the same for Jira Service Management.

You can either create a 'new site' to get the free instance of Jira Service Management or reach out to Atlassian for a free instance of Jira Service Management associated to your existing instance.

Thank you @Gaurav for all your help! I think we would opt for the second option you suggested. It will be really convenient if we could keep the same site for both the services.

@partha_sarker  - It all depends on your usage and features you are looking for. Standard and Premium you can start with trial and you need to connect to Atlassian for Enterprise(the name is self explanatory). In summary, for free agents you get - JSM for up to 3 agents, 2GB of storage, and Community Support.

Hi @partha_sarker , @Fabio Patané

As an alternative (far less expensive and without sites, users, and agents limit) you can start a free trial of the Customer Case for Jira app. It is also a portal for your external clients where they can submit their issues or ideas. It can be public (visible for everybody), private (restricted for specific email addresses or domains), or you can choose the option to make it a support service (private communication with support assistant).

Hi,

we have already 3 free licenses for Jira Service Management. To our scope they are enough but we would like to give access to other team members just to share with them the information we stored in JSM. Is there any chance to give them "read" right only free of charge?

Thanks

You can grant browse and comment permissions to Jira software users without incurring any licensing cost. It is only when you make them an agent and allow them to be assigned issues and transition issues where a license cost is incurred.
