Hi Derick,

Excellent question - 2 starters to get this going! 🤓

1) As with any system / tool - i'd say that you're always going to be limited by the quality of information you put into it, and with the amount.

Make sure that whatever you put in is creating less friction for your team rather than more, i.e. it has all the information needed for anyone to pick up and run with it. A framework similar to INVEST might help with this.

2) I would advise starting with either a specific project, or specific types of work - rather than throwing everything in all at once and trying to go from there. This will give you the space to figure out what does and doesn't work for you and your team, alongside importantly getting to learn the ins and outs of the tool in a less pressured situation.

There are a lot of great resources available in this community, in Atlassian university, and on YouTube.

  • Is Jira new to you specifically or the whole team?
  • Is working in Scrum new to the team?
  • Is being a Scrum Master new to you?

The answers to this questions can help guide what you should focus on first. Don't be in a hurry to change all the things at once.

Being a scrum master is not new but Jira might be new to some developers

@Engineer Derick have the developers used any other tools previously? (it's good to have this in mind to shape any transition over to JIRA)
