No, The gmail group is not associated with any user,
I have tried using a single user and it worked as expected.
I could'nt find any error in the log.
I tried sending a mail to gmail group using "send test mail" option and it didn't work either, so probably it is releated to jira and not specifically to the listner.

Unless it has a proper email address, the mail transport is not going to understand what to do with it. You'll probably find it in the email error queue, and there should be some kind of error in the logs.

So, as far as we're all concerned it's just a single email address right? Whether it's a distribution list or not seems irrelevant.
