logged time wrong accumulated in timesheet report when grouped by assignee

Enrico Neuber February 7, 2013

Hi guys,

we found out that the accumulated work time is wrong in the timesheet report for all users grouped by assignee if the assignee changed during progress. In our case we have JIRA issues that will be handled by more than one user. Lets's say we have two users user 1 and user 2, user 1 starts working on issue 1, logs 1day of work and pass it to user 2 after a while to review the work. User 2 logs 1 day addionally. If we then create the timesheet report including all users and group by assignee all logged work on issue 1 (2 days) are shown for user 2. User 1 and user 2 both worked 1 day on issue 1, but in the report it seems that user 2 worked 2 days at all on that issue. If we change the report filtering we get a correct result, e.g. to get a report for user 1. But we want to use an overall view grouped by assignee and there we get a wrong result.

The question is, is this a bug or depends this on the grouped by assignee filter that the logged work is added to the latest assignee? If this is a bug, is it possible to solve it? If yes, how long would it take?

Best regards,
Enrico

Hi Enrico,

Intead of 'Group By: Assignee', to see overall view grouped by user worked, you shoud specify 'Group', e.g. 'jira-users'.

Hope it helps.

Thanks, we select 'jira-users' in 'Group' in parallel to 'Group By: Assignee'. This is what our project lead wants. The project leads wants the overall view on top of that report where you have a project - assignee - timesheet view. In that one the accumulated times are wrong caused by the changed assignees.

Can you reproduce that behavior? Do you know why this happens?

Group By: Assigne works as designed. Assignee is issue field, wich has one value at a time. There is no such field 'worked user' to group by, sorry. You can use Project Pivot it groups hours by worked user, and gadget, with Group specified. If it does not help, I will try to add grouping by worked user to Timesheet Report.

Thanks a lot! Out project lead must control more than one project and wants to have two or three ones in a report. We would much appreciate if you can try to add grouping by worked user to the Timesheet Report.

Project pivot report is not limited just to one project. Just select 'All Projects' and specify group. Does it help?

Also in Timesheet Report, if you check 'Show Details', you'll get sections for each user with totals. This should be what you're looking for. Pleast let me know.

Thank you.
