Why doesn't Clone ++ update the Timespent field when entered?

When a user Creates an issue using Clone ++, the Timespent field is on the Clone entry screen. The user enters the time but it does not appear in the Worklog of the newly cloned issue. All other fields selected/edited are populated in the new issue except Timespent. Please advise.
