What placeholders/variables are available in Slack for Confluence Pro?

There are a bunch of placeholders used in the "Notification Format" field like "pageTitle", "spaceUrl" or "actionUserLink".

Is there a list of placeholders/variables that can be used?

So far, mostly the variables from the default configuration are available. Here's a list of the available variables:

  • pageTitle
  • pageUrl
  • versionComment
  • spaceTitle
  • spaceUrl
  • action
  • actionUserName
  • actionUserLink
  • creatorUserName (not used in the default configuration)
  • creatorUserLink
  • pageContentSnippet (Cloud version only, up to 140 characters of content from the page/blogpost/comment)

Are there any other variables you'd like to use?

I'm happy to report that we just released version 5.6_6 of Slack for Confluence (Server version) which supports two more variables:

  • pageContentSnippet (up to 140 characters)
  • pageContentFull (the full content)

Let me know if that works for you and if you have any other questions.

Thanks for the update! This works fantastically for page content (I guess that makes sense considering the name). If you could also add a variable for comments added to pages, or update pageContentSnippet to display comment text instead of page text when a comment was added, we'd be eternally grateful!

+1 for this!

btw, could you please add the list of available variables to the main documentation page on bitbucket? It would be much easier to find the information.

@Max Vollmer@Adam Nowak: We've finally come around and fixed all loose ends on this topic:

  • All available variables are now visible underneath the Slack Notification configuration.
  • We've added the ${contentSnippet} and ${contentFull} variables, which will use the comment text instead of the page text when a comment was added or changed.
  • Both changes are now available in both server (5.6_7) and cloud versions of Slack for Confluence. Cloud versions will automatically get updated to the new version within the next 10 hours.

Thank you for the answer!

Yes, we'd like to have "pageContentSnippet" or similar for the server version. Any reason why it's cloud only?

What we want specifically is that the text of new comments appears in Slack.
