What is the correct procedure to hide a field using the behaviours plugin

I'm using the behaviours plugin with the intent to hide a field.
Changing the customfieldtypekey to  'com.onresolve.jira.plugin.Behaviours:hideable-textarea' as explained in 
https://jamieechlin.atlassian.net/wiki/display/JBHV/JIRA+Behaviours+Plugin#JIRABehavioursPlugin-HiddenFields

shows an unwanted behaviour: the field is not visible anymore in the custom fields list.  The behaviour shows

Don't use the 'hideable" types if you can avoid it. That was an attempt to securely hide fields, ie even from rest calls. I would use a normal field type, and hide that either using the configuration in behaviours, or server-side script.

you can delete unwanted behaviours and start with beginning. create new behaviour and configure it.then try to hide the field .if you need to hide a field with a condition it is also possible.
