VRFY command on my Jira SMTP server with groovy

Hi guys, 

I would like to use the VRFY command on my Jira SMTP server throw a groovy script. Is that possible ? Any ideas to do that ? :)

Hi Sternberger,

As far as I am aware you set up an SMTP server externally to JIRA (as shown below)SMTP.png

You would use a single user to authenticate to your SMTP server in this instance. Therefore you would only have one actual SMTP user. Mails would only come from that user and therefore you wouldn't need to verify that this user was present.

In theory you can do what your asking but you'd need to authenticate to your SMTP server to run the command. It's not a straightforward task.

What problem are you trying to solve with this approach? Maybe I can help solve the underlying issue??
