If you already have plugin installed and newer version of the plugin is released. Is there an option to upgrade the newer version of plugin or older version of the plugin needs to be uninstalled and replaced by installing the newer version.
Yes, there's an Upgrade tab from which you can do exactly that.
Thanks Jamie. Can you please provide bit more detail. Where can I find the upgrade tab and how does it work? Does it replace existing .jar of plugin and replace it with new .jar?

If you are running a recent version of JIRA and/or Confluence and have administrative rights, you can access the Universal Plugin Manager under admin -> plugins. The UPM has the option to find and apply updates to plugins you have installed. If you are running an older version and hosting it locally, you will need to do things the old-fashion way and delete the old version, copy in the new one and restart the instance.
