Transition Button

Heng Cheong May 6, 2015

We are trying to use the Herzum Approval Add-on (2.2-GA-6.0-6.4)

more as an "endorsement" capturing with relevant comments rather than a strict approval. For example, even if one person rejects, we can still transition rather than waiting for all approvers (ie. people on leave etc.)

  • We understand that upon setting up the Approval Mapping Administration, it creates a condition:

  • We notice that if we delete the Herzum created "Condition" transition in the workflow, it will show the normal transition button as well (Notice how there are two "Submit for Solution" buttons - one from normal transition and the other from Herzum plug-in):
    After_Delete_Condition.PNG
  • Having the normal Workflow transition button (Submit for Solution) works for us as it allows us to transition manually even if one person rejects (again we are using to capture a list of endorsements as opposed to a strict approval).
  • However, if I do an "Approval Reindexing", it will add the Herzum condition back into the workflow again, resulting in (Notice the blue Herzum "Submit for Solution" plug-in button only):

  • Question is, was the showing of the two buttons a bug? ... which helped as to what we wanted to achieve (as it allows us to manually transition). Or, is it always intended that Herzum plug-in should always overlay what is normally the transition button?
  • Is it possible to have flexibility to configure/determine when a transition can occur from the approver list. ie. 0 out of 3, 2 out of 3 approvers or all approvers etc.

Question is, was the showing of the two buttons a bug?

It's not an expected that the customer remove the 'Aproval Condition' automatically added by the add-on on installing, re-indexing, etc. (the approval condition are automatically removed on uninstalling too).

In other terms, the current expected behavior is that the the jira transition button is not displayed until all approvals have been approved.

Is it possible to have flexibility to configure/determine when a transition can occur from the approver list. ie. 0 out of 3, 2 out of 3 approvers or all approvers etc.

Yes, it is possible. We will provide you this functionality in our next version 2.5 by including it in the sprint starting tomorrow.

I will keep you posted.

Thank you for the response. That makes it clear with regards to the behaviour. It's also great news that you have considered the new functionality. A suggestion is in some cases, you may want to specify the minimum number of approvers ie. minimum of 2 approvers or none etc. In some cases, you may want to specify a percentage ie. at least 75% of approvals etc.

Hello,
the functionality you have required, including the possibility to specify a percentage of approvals allowing to transition the issue, is now available on the just released version 2.5.
Please, review how to properly configure this setting on https://chicago.herzum.com/confluence/display/HAP/Minimun+Requested+Approvals+%28MRA%29+Configuration.

Don't hesitate to contact me for any further suggestion or support's request.
