Tempo Planner - availability across teams

Daniel Zinsli September 30, 2014

Hi,

We have separate functional teams (Front end development, Back end etc) and project teams.

The project teams include people from the functional teams, i.e the same people can be part of different teams, so Bob can be part of both the 'Front end team', the 'Project X' team and the 'Project Y' team.

How can this be modeled in tempo planner while giving us one overview which shows what projects Bob is assigned to?

Currently we can have:

1) One Tempo team that includes everyone, and have 1 epic per project which is then assigned to the users.

2) Two different tempo project teams that both include Bob

Challenges with that is that 1) doesn't let us find 'Which users are assigned to this project' easily, and 2) Doesn't give overall availability - Bob can be assigned 100% in each project, and there's no place to detect that.

Thanks!

Overall availability for a personn would be a very valuable functionnality. Since 2014, is there a way it have been implemented and I missed it ?

Hi Daniel,

there is no easy way to see who is working on which Project on a user basis. You might find the Team Backlog helpful, here you can see the Epics in Projects that are linked to a Team and who is assigned to Issues within the Epic (https://tempoplugin.jira.com/wiki/display/PLANNER/Team+Backlog).

Users that are in more than one Team and have a total Team availability of more than 100% are displayed with a yellow bar over there line in the Team timeline. Plans created for a user in a different Team show in the Timeline in gray (out of scope of this Team). Please take a look at https://tempoplugin.jira.com/wiki/display/PLANNER/Planner+Timeline (item 11 in table) for more information.

Hope this helps, else you are very welcome to create a feature request in our Tempo Planner project (https://tempoplugin.jira.com/browse/TP) and it will be evaluated by Tempo management.

Kind regards,

Susanne (Tempo)
