Stash Application link authorization issue

Niharika Shrivastava August 28, 2014

Hi!

For new 'include stash for confluence' plugin I created an application link between the 'Confluence Space' and a 'Stash project' and added macros, works fine till here. However when my team member(A) visits the page the macros gives error :

'Connection to Stash could not be established. Verify that you have properly configured the Stash application link for your Confluence space and that your Stash instance is up and running.'

We were able to resolve this as soon as my team member(A) created a new link to stash and authorize himself.

Does that mean every user will have to create an application link? or is there a simpler way by which users can authorize themselves and then can view the added macros.

Hi Nick!

Thanks for the response.

Actually, the isue was that the users were not getting the link to authenticate themselves.

The plugin team worked on the issue, and released a new version 1.1.1.After the upgrade, users have to authorize themselves against Stash once for a Confluence space ( a link is provided for this).

No.

It sounds like you had some misconfiguration in the old Application Link you'd created, and the new one which team member(A) added resolved that issue.

You only need one Application Link between Stash and Confluence. How authorisation works depends on how the link is configured.

If both applications (Stash, Confluence) have the same set of users, then you should configure what is called "2 Legged-OAuth with impersonation". This means that the remote application is automatically authorised to access each user's data.

If you have a separate set of users in each system, you should configure "3 Legged OAuth", then each user will need to grant the remote system access to their data individually.
