Hi,
new to JIRA ServiceDesk; looking at implementation options and functionality.
We currently have M'soft's SCSM with Orchestrator and Runbooks, to help ensure consistency of operation; by using automation for repetitive service functions, for example:
"Add new user to an existing Active Directory group", where a template form gathers enough input to trigger the Runbook that will perform the add activity in AD.
Other examples specific to AD might be changing group membership permissions, or deleting user accounts. These flows often require an approval step from a human party, before the action will be allowed to complete, e.g.:
- Fill out Service Request template with attribute values (Username, GroupName, etc)
- Runbook absorbs the values, generates an approval request (email to Approver), and waits
- Reply is received and automatically processed --> if affirmative, AD action is performed.
I'm looking for whether there is a similar functionality with JIRA core or JIRA Service Desk that would achieve this. (Ideally out-of-the-box and not an add-on).
I'm aware of post-functions and workflow transitions, so this is really about the options to "drive" changes in AD when workflows are run from the JIRA side.
Many thanks,
BK
Hi BK,
Thanks for your question.
Please refer to information on https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicedeskserver/automating-your-service-desk-939926334.html
In summary:
Pull from AD to populate customfields
setup approvals workflow
link to approvals and then automation webhooks
