Removal of the Scriptrunner addon from Jira 7.1.10

Hello, Just wondering if I could source the correct uninstall guidance from Adaptavist for the Scriptrunner plugin (v4.3.16 in Jira 7.1.10).

We have configured many of the post functions and validations in workflows throughout the application and just need to ensure that removal of the add on from Jira will not cause any adverse affects to workflows previously configured with scriptrunner customizations. Understandably the configured improvements using SR wont work but will the workflow actually function as normal and ignore those customizations?

Any assistance would be great.

You will need to remove the workflow customisations.

The workflow will continue to work at first glance, but fail when it tries to call the classes that were part of scriptrunner.

Conditions will cause failures on view, blocking transitions from appearing, and post-functions and validators will crash on trying to progress.

They will not do any damage to your data, but your workflow will not work.

Hi Nic, thanks for the information. I suspected that may be the case. I will work through the workflows and clear out old configuration to avoid any trouble, Thanks.

Hi Nic, thanks for the information. I suspected that may be the case.

Also, while currently the two apps are compatible, I notice that the planned upgrade version is not compatible with the older version of SR that we currently have (4.3.16) Is there any way we could upgrade to Jira 7.4.4 leaving SR as is and then remove the workflow steps in question before uninstalling scriptrunner? Or would we encounter issues post upgrade if the SR version was incompatible with the new version

Chris

You can do the upgrade, then you'll need to upgrade to a valid version of SR, then you can remove the scripts from the workflows, and discard the add-on.

My sales guy is probably going to nag me to ask you why you're getting rid of ScriptRunner?   (Don't worry, I won't let them hassle you, I'm just curious as to the reason)

Ps SR is currently disabled in our tenant also and has not resulted in any issues from users (just incase you need to know current status)

Hi Nic, thanks for that, Im not aware of how many of Atlassians 6 trials we have left though for this but I understand what you suggested so will consider the possibility. Could you confirm whether or not we would be permitted to request another trial for this?

For Scriptrunner we really liked the tool and its customizations, however the cost element is the factor in us deciding to move away from the plugin. We do not have the usage to warrant the cost unfortunately. That being said if any offers exist, it would be good to know. Cheers

Hello Chris,

In the "Built-in Scripts" section of the plugin, there is a script called *Script Registry"  this gives you the list of places the script runner plugin is used including the list of workflows. This should help you in fastening your work.

Hi Tarun, that's really useful thank you. I will have a good look where we use the tool and go from there. Cheers
