Question about imports in Insight 5.0

Pieter Van der Cruys September 20, 2017

I am testing the new functionalities about importing objects in Insight 5.0.
At first I did't read the documentation very well and i supposed that the IQL in "Import Object Type Mapping" was ment to make a selection of objects to update with the imports. After reading the documentation thoroughly i understood this is not the case.

I was very happy with this misunderstood functionality
It should have made this use case possible:

  • An objectType is been imported by an external csv file.
  • When a certain object is missing in the csv file, it's "status" field is updated to "stopped"
  • We create objects of the same objectType manually.
  • Now: When the import runs, the manually created objects are updated to "status" = "stopped".
  • Preferred: IQL is hiding the manually created objects and there status is not updated.

Is there a possibility to configure such behavior with the current version or will this result in a new feature request?

Hi Pieter,

The import engine as of 5.0.3 has no support for skipping manually created objects. You can report this as a new feature request at https://portal.riada.se/servicedesk/customer/portal/12

Best Regards
Alexander
