Check out this plugin. Most of our workflows require an approval from a person in a specific role and the project roles issue tab panel helps us quickly identify the person in a specific role so we can mention them in a comment and get the issue transitioned to the next state quickly.

There is also a project tab panel that displays all the users in different roles.
